That was the policy.
And that drove a lot of the politics.
They got us involved in the Middle East and elsewhere, went to other places.
But here's the thing.
It worked.
You know, we grew the most prosperous economy the world has ever seen.
And we had affordable energy.
But that's not going to work now.
So let's come up with a different energy policy on the gas tax.
In our defense, when the whole thing started, we really didn't see that coming.
We didn't make the conscious choice to go ahead and burn everything down.
It was like, well, you got to use energy.
And then the planet, 9 billion people.
And that's kind of my point is once we learned that, it was time to develop a different policy.
And it's just been a few decades since then.
Oh, gosh, yes.
Oh, heavens, yes.
