On those countless sleepless nights with my baby, it helped to remind myself that somewhere in that exact moment, other parents were doing the same. Holding their babies, fighting that same mental battle. For Jake, well, sure, some of what he's been through might resonate with others. But the combination of events? The sheer improbability of it all?

How was Jake paying for his care when Ellen was in charge of managing his care and the money, yet nobody was getting paid? Jake's other two requests were, Fortunately for Jake, these hospitals were not about to treat him the way that the hospice company did.
