President Trump is attending a state banquet in Beijing with his host, Chinese President Xi Jinping.

In dinner remarks, Trump praised the U.S.-Chinese relationship.

Trump has also formally invited Xi to the United States for a state visit in late September.

The U.S.

and China have both released statements following Trump and Xi's meeting today.

China says it emphasized to the United States differences over Taiwan could lead to conflict between the U.S.

and China.

The U.S.

statement did not mention Taiwan at all.

It said both countries agreed to improve economic ties.

Taiwan's government is pushing back against China's warning that problems over Taiwan could lead to conflict.
