That's so interesting.
I'm just going to splice something for two seconds.
In that What Went Wrong episode about the Empire Strikes Back, there's this whole discussion about how they worked out what Yoda's accent would be.
And, like, Frank Oz was in there and, like, you know, the director's going, like, no, no, hate it, hate it, hate it.
And then it just sort of evolved and went boof, perfect.
Sorry, keep going.
Well, like, he was a puppet and he was the most strange-looking puppet and eventually they worked out, like...
But like acting with a puppet is weird and the voice was not right and it looked all wrong.
Like the first couple of scenes that they shot were all, all wrong and so they had to kind of re-
kind of mould the puppet.
And then in the end it was the insertion of various comedy bits like where Yoda's sort of like fluffing around his cave, like looking for things and bending over and you can see his little puppet butt.
Like that is kind of what ended up making him such a lovable figure, that he was this omniscient character who also spoke ridiculously and kind of couldn't find his glasses, you know.
That was β and by the end of the shoot β
Apparently, like, the crew were addressing the puppet, you know, saying, like, can you just move over?
Which is the point at which you know, as Frank Oz, that you've kind of got there with your puppetry because even the people behind the cameras are like that latex thing.
