I mean, fans think just because somebody's playing the best at that time that they should be on the team.
It doesn't always work like that.
International managers, in my experience, a lot of them, it's who they trust.
Somebody that's done a job for them, somebody that's proven they'll do a job for them, somebody that's consistent, and then they'll sprinkle it with players that can maybe make a difference.
I mean, Olivier Giroud was...
You know, he wasn't the most pleasing on the eye.
But Griezmann and Mbappe and players like that, they worked off him.
And that physicality and that long ball and those knockdowns, they worked for France.
But there was probably, you know, strikers with more talent scoring more goals than Olivier Giroud.
His goal-scoring record was excellent.
And then you look at the centre-half position with France, Pomecano and Canati.
People have been saying, why is Saliba not playing?
Because he trusted those players.
Now, those players have been making, particularly Canati, have been making mistakes this season.
So let's see where that trust goes.
But I think sometimes when a player's not playing for the club...
as long as their fitness is at a certain level, and if they've done a job for a manager before and they can fit into a squad environment and they're not going to be a problem, but they can be a use to the team or the squad or the camp, they may go ahead of somebody who is playing a little bit more because the manager trusts this particular player.
