So in 9 1โ2 years, I would have retired, and she and I would have lived semi-comfortably.
You know, not that military retirement is the best there is, but at least you have some guarantees, you know.
uh and and i without sounding sexist or anything i think a woman that marries a man stability is a big part of that relationship you want to feel safe and you want to you know you want a bit of a fail safe and that i was her fail safe and i'll never forget coming in door and telling it sitting down with him going i talked to the commander today and i think i am going to uh go try this music thing
And she was like, okay, what does this entail?
I'm like, we're going to move to Nashville.
And that's when I told her, I'm going to stay in the reserves, and if it don't work in a year or two, I'll come right back into active duty.
I don't lose any time in service, and we'll kind of just pick up where we left off, and I'll retire.
And I said, chances are it's not going to work anyway, but I agree with the colonel when I talked to him.
And she's like, all right, let's go.
At least we'll be home.
You'll be close to home.
I mean, she was very supportive.
Now, if you ask her now, she'll go, oh, I cried for a month.
Because she hated it when we left the Army.
We had such a wonderful life.
Not that we don't have a wonderful life now, but at that job in particular.
