Oh, absolutely.
I mean, his writing is so crisp, is so matter-of-fact.
Not to get too, you know, invisible beret about this.
And I love her books.
I think they're brilliant.
My parents read that book to me so many times.
It's the one thing I possibly have in common with Violet, or I did in my 20s.
She's not really sure, certainly at the start of the book.
She's desperate to find out what life can offer her.
But she is enthralled to her appetites and bewildered by them.
And she doesn't know what she's allowed to want.
She doesn't know how much of it she is allowed to want.
And so she's just desperate to test her own limits and see what other people see in her.
I think she is lost and she thinks of herself lost.
at times, as a bit of a nihilist.
But actually, she's just sort of desperately looking for direction.
Greedy is a word I'm drawn to.
It's one of those words I've often used to describe myself.
And I wanted to say that about myself before anyone else can get in there.
