In the third act, there's a whole, lots of stuff goes on and the marshalling comes in and saves the situation and says to Ox, now, come on, this is ridiculous.
They should marry and she's gracious and beautiful and wise.
I mean, I'm terrible, terrible at weeping on stage.
And when I played Octavian, I used to think, how can I hurt this wonderful Marceline lady who's so kind by going off with this young girl?
And I would I would be in floods of tears at the end of that one.
Well, then I was the marshalling, so it was different.
I cried more as Octavian than I did as the marshalling, in fact.
Because the marshalling is older and wiser and has wonderful things to say about how you should take things in your hands and enjoy them and then let them go.
And people identify with her because whatever age you are, you feel... I mean, time passes and things change and you...
You do have to hold things in your hands and let them go and take stock and this was my time and now it's got to be somebody else's time and all those things.
And for me, that probably of anything was the biggest confidence booster because he really, they said he would only come out of his house if his freezer was empty.
