Some big names inducted.
Yeah, there were.
And there were, as always, some names that weren't all that well known to even the wider football population.
But they all deservingly found their way into the Hall of Fame last night.
I'll just go through the names.
Bill Walker, a WA player, was inducted as the legend of the game.
It was Mike Fitzpatrick who spoke about him, the former AFL commissioner and great player himself and Hall of Fame member who basically gave the speech around him in the prepared presentation.
Gary Ablett, as we've discussed, we'll get to him specifically in a moment.
Tim Evans, a great from the SA competition, a thousand goals in his career.
Dustin Fletcher, 400 game player of the AFL.
David Cantilla, who has got a great backstory.
South Adelaide legend and someone from the Tiwi Islands.
Hayden Kennedy, the umpire, who had some good stuff to say on Mike.
And then John Worsfold, who in typical John Worsfold fashion, just got up there pretty quickly, matter of factly.
Didn't get too celebratory.
That's just in his nature, isn't it?
And it's extraordinary when you reflect on some people's achievements that he and David Parkin are the only two people to captain a club and then coach the same club to a premiership in the entirety of the game.
Now, people have played premierships and been captain and then won.
But they're the only two who have done it for the club which they played and were captain in.
So that in itself, and again, the way the criteria works, combining those two feats doesn't necessarily add up to it being an induction.
