President Trump is criticizing former CNN anchor and now independent journalist Don Lemon, who was arrested and charged by the Justice Department on a federal civil rights violation concerning his coverage of a protest inside of a Minnesota church.
Trump said Lemon's arrest is probably the best thing that's happened to him.
On CNN's State of the Union, Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanch was asked about Lemon's expected defense.
He was working as a reporter and not as an activist.
Attorney Abby Lowell, who is representing Lemon, called his arrest an unprecedented attack on the First Amendment.
