President Trump has toughened the terms of a potential framework for a ceasefire deal to end the Iran war and has sent those proposed changes back to the Islamic Republic for consideration.
That's according to a New York Times report citing three officials.
The officials say that Trump has concerns with the deal, including unfreezing funds to Iran, something he has criticized President Obama for having done.
The president has also been unhappy with the length of time it takes for the Iranians to respond to U.S.
proposals.
The report says Trump's changes were possibly intended to put pressure on Iran to accept the framework of a deal already sent to the country's supreme leader.
The U.S.
military stopped a merchant vessel, the Gambia-flagged cargo ship Leon Star, trying to break through its blockade of Iranian ports by firing a missile into its engine room.
The ship had ignored more than 20 warnings from U.S.
forces overnight as it tried to enter an Iranian port.
The vessel remained adrift in the Gulf of Oman, and U.S.
forces have not boarded it, said a U.S.
official with knowledge of the situation.
The U.S.
has now stopped six ships total, trying to breach the blockade.
