Yeah, the defense was bad.
I mean, we get it.
The turnovers were real.
But when you look at the actual statistical categories, not particularly good for the Bears.
I get it.
But at the same time, you don't want them forcing the issue just for appearances.
We need defensive line.
We need it badly.
So in some ways, it probably took a hell of a lot of discipline for the Bears to not force it.
And look, the jury's still out on Shamar Turner, but it's possible they forced it last year, grabbing him in the second round.
And like I said, we got a long way to go.
way to go on shamar turner's tenure with the bears he's barely just getting going but you know that maybe they felt that pressure to do that last year i'm glad they didn't force it for any of these guys and with dan look we've been talking about this um for weeks now and part of the reason you and i both said go safety in the first round is because it was a safety
to do because it's so hard with all these defensive linemen at 25 toggling between the first and second and some cases third round with these guys deep but ambiguous at the same time.
No doubt.
No doubt, man.
I mean, everybody had mocked.
If you were interested in the Bears getting a safety, it was Emmanuel McNeil-Warren.
Nobody thought that Dylan Thienemann was going to be available.
And Dan, to your point, too, that the theme of what you and I are both talking about here and not forcing the draft picks, you know, Ryan Poles does not have a good history of drafting edge.
or defensive line like austin booker is about his only hit i'm sitting here thinking about the zach pickens jervon dexter draft where it was kind of like yeah we need defensive linemen and like we're gonna get him at any cost and like jervon dexter has been fine uh but i wouldn't put him down as a good or a great player he's been fine he's been average um you know he's been good enough to start on the defensive line zach pickens was a bust
