They're uncomfortable reporting it because at the end of the day, they have families. They have things on the line that have been implicitly threatened. Standing up like this, I'm not hopeful for the outcome for me.

Be transparent. If you have nothing to hide... Don't delete logs. Don't be covert about your entrance to agencies. Be open. Because that's what efficiency is really about. If this is all huge misunderstanding, then just prove it. Put it out there. That's all I'm asking.

In a disclosure to Congress and other federal overseers, he says Doge appears to have gotten access, right before a big chunk of sensitive data was removed from the agency and records were deleted.

Why was that done? And that's a purposeful effort. That doesn't just happen. Logs don't just disappear.

While the NLRB tells NPR they have no record of Doge's access and that an internal investigation concluded there was no security breach, Barula says the suspicious activity he noticed warrants further investigation. Jen McLaughlin, NPR News.

The new Israeli proposal is to pause the war in Gaza for a month and a half, free about half of Hamas's living Israeli hostages within the first week and negotiate the disarmament of militant groups. A Hamas official tells NPR the group rejects the proposal. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because Hamas was still preparing a formal response to mediators.

But in a statement, Hamas and other Palestinian groups said their weapons were for self-defense. Israel's defense minister says Israel is changing tactics and won't withdraw troops from areas they capture in Gaza. Daniel Estrin, NPR News, Tel Aviv.
