And like, I was shaking, I was shivering, I was cold and I was broken.
It just literally is this one moment I'll never forget.
You're hallucinating.
And it was just this thing that growing up in the mountains of North Carolina, it's like a reasonably comfortable middle-class existence.
You're laying there and you're thinking, oh my God, like I am past what I am capable of doing.
And it's, like, at that exact moment, guys pull you up, they grab your weapon, they say, hey, we'll carry it for a little while.
We stop.
I can remember a couple of them, like, hugging me to get me to stop shivering.
And it's this moment of vulnerability that, like, at least for me, was, like, the start of this moment where I realized, like, these were the types of people that were going to be in my life forever, and these were the types of people that were the best among us.
And it wasโmy wife will say of these times,
that had I not joined the army, she wouldn't have married me.
Like, she's very explicit about that.
And it's not, it's because it made- She said that?
She said it on many, even before this job.
Because she says it just, it made me a much better version of myself.
Oh, that's cool.
