It's certainly... I think it is related to this episode, though, because it's definitely a game where it's really strategic. You have to figure out your moves. You have to pick your players. Not players, but... Your pieces, each one has a different role and you have to use it in a certain way to get the game to go your way. And I think that it takes a lot of strategy to win in chess.

I love that we're talking about her because whenever I think of a pirate, the first thing that comes to mind is like Captain Hook. You know, like it's always a guy with a patch missing an arm and he's the leader of a ship. That's what I mean, his hand. He's got the hook, Captain Hook. And, you know, like there's this vision that you have of a pirate. And now we're switching.

Like we're totally flipping that narrative on its head because we're talking about a woman. And it's just, it's fun. I like it. I'm into it. Cheng Yi Sao was born as Shi Yang in 1775 in the coastal city of Guangdong, China. Before we go any further, I think it is important to acknowledge that her name has been recorded in many different ways throughout history, including Shi Yang and Cheng Yi.

And today's episode will primarily refer to her as Cheng Yi Sao, which is the name that she is most commonly associated with. While little is known about her upbringing, we do know that she was born during the reign of the Qing Dynasty, which refers to a line of rulers from the same family who govern an empire and pass the power down through generations.

The Qing Dynasty was established by the Manchu, an ethnic group of northeast China who overthrew the Ming Dynasty, previously ruled by the Han people in 1644. Although the Manchu were a minority, They retained control by blending their own customs with the Confucian ideals.
