So I think the flaw in the planning system lies not in giving people the power to object, but in how long the whole process takes, the reliance on judicial reviews, the fact that we can go to the council and then on Commission Planola and then
all of that could get sorted and then it ends up in the courts and then it ends up being one way or the other and then there are appeals on appeals on appeals and the process just takes way too long.
So I think that's ultimately where the main issue lies.
It just needs to be so much more streamlined than it is.
Yeah, so Tommy Fleming originally from Eclair in South County Sligo and started singing at a very young age, around three or four years of age.
He realised that he was into the singing and his father kind of supported him in that and he performed in that local area.
We used to go around singing in pubs and clubs.
and kind of had built up a little bit of a local profile.
But it wasn't until he was 21 years of age and he met Phil Coulter that things really started to take off for him.
So just a chance meeting with Phil Coulter while he was performing in Westport.
And then later on after that, he becomes the lead singer of De Danann, which many other well-known Irish singers fronted over the years.
And meeting Coulter really just kind of led to a meteoric rise, really.
He goes from performing in these
venues to touring the US, performing in the likes of Carnegie Hall in New York and playing to these really big venues, the likes of the Cork Opera House and National Concert Hall here in Dublin.
And that's where he really got his big break.
The Voice of Hope album gets broadcast a concert that took place in Knock Shrine in Mayo.
And that was shown on Publix broadcast television in the States.
And his international profile really explodes off the back of that.
Did they like that track in Japan?
And that's what led to him being able in latter years as his career continued to be able to tour not just here in Ireland and sell out venues here, but also go to Australia, to the US, to the UK and sell hundreds of thousands of tickets pretty much once every year from then on in and enjoy just a hugely successful career in music.
