And I realised that.
I remember saying to myself, you've had a pretty good life, so not a bad way to die surfing.
And I went, wow.
And then I thought, no, not today.
And it was my family that brought it back.
And I went, you can't die.
And I felt the sand under my feet again and just pushed as hard as I could and got back onto the surface, started to tuck my arm back together again, climbed back on my surfboard.
And it was then that I heard Aaron behind me and he'd called out to my other mate, Sean, and apparently he'd said, come on, we can't leave Dave on his own.
He's going to get pounded.

And he said, we just could not leave you.
And even though we were trying to get away to get out, we were paddling in your direction.
And, you know, that's the Aussie guy, you know, we help each other when things go wrong.
And thankfully that's instilled in some of my mates.
No, no pain at all.
I'm looking down at my arm and there's like all the forearm muscles hanging off, there's blood going everywhere and I can see my bones and I'm going, you know, this isn't good, but no pain at all.
Nothing for a good, I would say, 15 minutes.
