He was just a kind, warm-hearted, funny, self-deprecating person.
And I haven't heard a bad word about him ever.
And there's few people, you know, sometimes when someone passes away, everyone piles on, oh, he was a great person or she was a great person.
And he'd heard things during their life that weren't the best.
That wasn't the case with Cheech.
Universally loved, respected.
And he just brought a lot of joy and light to people.
And that's probably the best way we can remember him.
So, yeah, it's a tough day.
It's a tough time.
But, you know, he brought a lot of love and respect.
You know, yesterday was our opportunity to sort of share our thank yous and love to him.
Yeah, absolutely.
And one last thing on Cheech, by the way, and we had a good laugh about this.
So often I would throw to the broadcast, and I would say when I was doing...
Canucks intermissions that I would say, okay, up next, the second period with John Shorthouse, John Garrett, and headlining our coverage, Dan Murphy, meaning he'd be the next one kind of taking over.
You'd hear his voice come in.
And then I get these texts from Garrett being, what do you mean headlining?
Aren't I the headliner?
You would do it though in a way where you would just start laughing and we'd have this whole back and forth.
