What can the stress of these things do to you physically, mentally?
When people have just got back together in one of these relationships and they're on the up portion of the roller coaster, I got to ask about memory.
Like, do couples rewrite their memory?
Do they think, oh, it wasn't that bad.
It's going to be better this time.
Things are really great right now.
Like, what are the rationalizations that people give to stay in these relationships?
Guilty as charged.
I have done that.
But please keep going.
Well, we didn't have aggression.
So I want to put that aside for a second.
But, you know, I'm kind of like a success story.
Me and my girlfriend Miranda were on and again, off again.
And then finally, we moved in together about seven years ago.
And that was what really made the change.
We haven't broken up since.
OK, for someone listening right now who's on their third, fourth, maybe 50th reunion, and they're thinking about maybe getting back together.
Based on your research, what questions should they be asking themselves to make sure that it's a good idea and not just like a stress recycling situation that's about to happen?
I know I sort of just said, let's put the aggression factor to the side for a second, but I don't want to shy away from that.
