Sort of like a toolkit.
Exactly.
This reappraisal idea, looking at things differently, trying to take a different perspective, maybe even trying to be empathetic of the person on the other end, trying your patience.
On the one hand, it sounds powerful.
On the other hand, sounds a bit like gaslighting yourself.
Like what's the line between denying reality and tempering and looking at things differently?
And sitting with the emotion is what I'm hearing.
I don't know what I pay my therapist for.
I could have just had you on the show and you could tell me to sit with my feelings because I feel like that's every session.
Is there something to do with life stages and patience here?
Because in my 20s, I was infinitely impatient.
And as I get older, I kind of learn it as a skill.
Do you think as we get older, we get a little more patient?
