tracy's line you see that and you go oh that's tracy she's done that that's amazing that one you can recognize one person's line yeah it's like a fingerprint doesn't and the other thing that's brilliant about tracy she places it on the paper or on the exactly in the right place she just does it it's just in her and when she writes on her canvases

It fits perfectly.

Like she's writing and she's writing it down.

But it fits into the canvas perfectly.

Well, that's an enormous inherent skill that sort of you don't analyse.

That's drawing in itself.

And I think it's the same with you.

So that's where the structure, that's what I'm trying to say about structure.

It's inherent in the person and it's just where I know that feels exactly.

And that's why I can move things around, you know, trees get pulled out, trees get pulled in.

It's the structure that's again, very hard to explain it, but it's in me.

They're the artists that interest me.

Again, it's coming back to what I was saying.

It's of this earth.

It's being alive and you don't get too heady about things.

You just get on and make paintings every day.

Well, it was just so nice having Welsh hills in Rome.

So I go about it by making sure I've got the paintings finished way before the exhibition dates.

Some artists work brilliantly to a deadline.
