Back in New Zealand, I also have a lot of my old DVDs, but none of them from a closed-down blockbuster. New Zealand did have blockbuster stores at one point, but I never set foot in one. We had other chains around our house. Which means I was about to pop my blockbuster cherry. There it is. I can see the sign.

The world's last Blockbuster store is part of a strip mall. It would be kind of nondescript except for the giant letters spelling out Blockbuster on the roof. They're faded, but they're big. Despite never having been in a Blockbuster store, there's a sense of nostalgia going inside. I guess the brand is seed into my brain just from bits of pop culture, seeing it in movies and TV shows, and seeing the story hashed out in the last video store documentary. I have such positive memories of video stores as a kid. It's all positive.

I think that's what it is. I inhale the smell. I wish you could smell what I'm smelling too, but like with our country episode, you'll just have to use your imagination. Just seeing all these boxes on shelves, I just remember as a kid the hours I would spend just slowly looking and pacing and deciding what I was going to get. Same here.
