The detection system in taste and smell has gradually filtered out of humanity due to evolution and is no longer needed.
So the ones that still have it, like you, are technically speaking less evolved.

They might as well be shredding like grating soap onto this delicious salad.
And I have to sit there and eat this disgusting food.

It does sound like I am advocating for something quite mean.
