I do like that quote, but I disagree with it.

I knew you were going to push back on that.

There's a nuance to this.

So the just as dumb is I would push back on because experts in one field –

do have some general knowledge about like logic and scholarship and evidence and stuff.

Yeah, and they should understand the gulf between what they know as an expert on a specific topic and the general public, and hopefully they apply that across the board.

I encourage people to do that, to realize that they are as ignorant in other areas as they think everybody else is in the area that they actually are an expert in.

So being an expert in something I think does give you some general intellectual skills that people who are an expert in nothing do not have.

Is that fair?

Yes.

Of course.

The core of it I agree with.

Absolutely.

But I just wanted to throw that nuance in there.
