That's not the same as saying I think it makes sense, but I understand what you're saying.
If you were to ask to consult Colbert and Kimmel's writers about how they could make fun of you, what would you tell them?
Ooh.
And I think there's the idea that you're willing to take risks in things you say and push against various orthodoxies.
What would be the risky thing to say to your audience?
Hmm.
And is that, are those risks you're willing to take?
Do you remember what it was about religion that you said that offended your audience?
But- I just, because this is gonna be in audio too, I just need to make it clear that I made an extremely skeptical face when religious people don't write letters.
Someone who works at Planned Parenthood might have a different opinion about how polite the religious letter writers are.
There's a book of yours from 2015 called How to Be Right.
And in there, you wrote that ideological purity on the right creeps you out.
Where do you see that ideological purity on the right today?
Basically the libertarian position.
But you're bringing this up as an example of sort of an ideological position you held that has changed.
And I'm more curious about
ideological positions that you might hold today that don't seem in line with contemporary conservative orthodoxy.
Like you're saying the purity test thing is kind of outdated.
Give me an example.
Right, also a libertarian position.
