And this was something that the Murphy Report actually went into in depth and said, we really risk turning sport, which so many Australians love for all the right reasons, building community, challenging yourself, being part of something bigger than yourself, just turning it into an opportunity to flog off.

So there are definitely ways to plug those gaps and actually deal with the ads and critically also the inducements.
Like that was kind of the most urgent recommendation from the Murphy Report and the government, as I understand it, isn't even dealing with that.
Not interested.
So one of the recommendations of the Murphy report was to have a national regulator.
As you said, everyone flocks to the NT and it's, it's very loose.
Like the, you know, there's been a whole bunch of exposรฉs on just how loose the system is up there of, of regulation air quotes.

But yeah, I do think having a levy that could actually fund some of these gaps, like this is a public health issue.
We should be treating it as such.
No one's saying that you can't gamble.
If you're over 18, go for it.
But the problem that we have is this normalization of it where you're setting young people up for failure.
If that's what they've seen their entire life...
that this is how you have fun, this is how you enjoy sport, of course they're going to do it, rather than, you know, I guess making a bit more of an informed decision of, oh, this is actually something I enjoy.
It's been really disappointing, the lack of focus on it.
We all know that this is this enormous freight train that's coming at us at pace.
I think Australians get that.
In the last parliament to the former minister, Ed Husic's credit, I think a lot of work was being done on actually setting up an advisory, a sort of AI safety advisory committee, really looking for experts in that space, and then actually doing the work on an AI safety act.
