He's talking about science there or to persuade ourselves that we have found indubitable answers to them.
to teach how to live without certainty and yet without being paralyzed by hesitation is perhaps the chief thing that philosophy in our age can still do for those who study it.
So I read that quote and there is nothing that I've read in my life that has resonated so deeply with me.
And when I admitted that things are uncertain and I get it, I have the same vivid hopes.
But that still doesn't prove that there is a God.
Just like I asked you.
And that to me is an emotional... Okay.
It's kind of like the trump card.
It's like you have these conversations with religious people and you stump them on logic and they go, well...
Lord works in mysterious ways.
And it's just like, it's like, what's the smartest guy that just came out as like the highest IQ in the world, right?
And he said, I believe in God.
So all these religious people are like, see, the smartest person in the world believes in God.
And you're saying, but...
I thought you only cared about faith, and I thought you didn't care about evidence.
So it's this whole thing of, well, if you have me stumped on evidence, then I'm going to tell you it's all about faith.
But then, oh, my God, if someone comes along and there's evidence to prove that God exists, they jump on that so quickly because ultimately they know that it is logic and it is reason that is more powerful than faith.
So when I see that inconsistencyβ That's not why they do it, but they do it because that's what everybody banters about.
Evidence is powerful.
And faith will only take you so far.
