It's all being sucked into the algorithm.
as the raw material and so we have to take our attention back because ultimately there is no other mechanism of agency or control that we actually have except where our attention is there's no other control you think it's your thoughts well the thoughts you obtain and the thoughts you're able of thinking have everything to do with where your attention is
and you think it's your body, the things your body do is it follows your thoughts and the neurochemicals, which is based on where your attention is.
We are target-seeking creatures.
We evolve that way.
We have whites in our eyes so that we can see where everybody else is focused on and aiming at.
And the hands follow the eyes.
The body follows the eyes.
That's why race car drivers...
Have to learn how to look away from the wall when they're about to crash into it Because if you keep looking at the wall, you're going to keep staring into the wall and you're going to crash So you have to force yourself to go against your body and look at the track Because then the hands follow the eyes and your body and your whole car adjusts So we have to reclaim dominion over our attention
And that's where everything goes.
As the old metaphysical saying, energy flows where attention goes.
So that's where it starts.
And these systems are literally designed to steal all of your attention.
And we have to take that back.
And then, but the only way to anchor that and to know that you can control your attention is you have to know what your intention is.
And so in order to have influence over yourself and the world, you cannot be influenced by the world.
To the extent you are not influenced, to that extent you can have more influence, first over yourself and then over others.
Like people ask me, how's life treating you?
And I say, don't know, don't care, but I know how I'm treating me and how I'm treating my life.
