Do not confuse useful AI with safe AI.
A system can be impressive and still poorly understood.
It can be profitable and still risky.
It can be polite and still misaligned.
It can answer fluently and still be wrong.
That friendly tone can trick us.
AI says certainly and happy to help, and suddenly we treat it like a helpful intern.
but tone is not intention it is not loyalty it is not moral judgment it is text generation with a very good suit on so the practical lesson is not stop using ai that would be silly ai is useful it can help with writing research planning translation analysis and creative work
The lesson is, keep control.
Know where AI is allowed to act.
Know where humans must review.
Know what data it can access.
Know where mistakes would be expensive, embarrassing, or dangerous.
And never automate something simply because the tool makes it easy.
Yudkowsky's central warning is this.
The danger is not that AI becomes human.
The danger is that it becomes highly capable without being human at all.
No hatred required, no villain speech, no glowing red eyes, just intelligence, optimization and the wrong goal.
Which is less cinematic, yes, but possibly much worse.
The cake machine that took things too literally.
