Episodic memory helps the AI avoid acting like it has never met the customer before.
Without it, the AI might suggest the exact same unicorn cake again.
With it, the AI can say, last year Emma liked unicorns, but this year she seems to want something a little more grown up.
That is useful.
That sounds like someone actually paid attention.
Then comes semantic memory.
These are stable facts.
The AI knows that nuts are not allowed in this order because of the allergy.
It knows the cake shop's policy.
Allergy warnings must be checked twice.
It knows strawberries are a safe ingredient for this customer, if prepared correctly.
It knows the shop's standard cake sizes and prices.
This is not just a story about one birthday party.
This is knowledge the AI must treat as factual and important.
If the AI forgets that Emma dislikes unicorns now, that is annoying.
If it forgets the nut allergy, that is serious.
