We made a mixtape that became Piracy Funds Terrorism.
and that they were like this fucking sucks like we can't this isn't even an album or anything and i was like look i know how to sell these mixtapes to her i was like we can just make some money on this mixtape trust me you're popping right now you have that same single called galang let me just like these are kind of cool and one of the songs became bucky dungun which is like my first like real production that i ever did and it was like me doing a fusion of brazilian music with her voice and like dancehall
So that was what I did.
And then from there on, I had to learn how to like use logic and like produce because when she came over, I was not prepared.
And I was like, let me learn how to use all these programs.
So I bought a computer and then I started producing from that day on.
Um, just demo wise, there's a lot.
I mean, paper planes was like my first big recorded hit, I guess.
But before that I made so many hip hop beats.
I was really big in hip hop production.
Like I had done an album on Ninja tune called Florida and I had produced for a bands on Ninja tune.
Like, um, it was actually a sub label called big data.
There's like an English hip hop label.
So it was a band called TTC from France.
It's like random hip hop people that I met underground, really underground hip hop.
sample based music.
And then I think working with MIA sort of like made me understand what brand, what it is to create an artist and create a brand and like actually reach people.
Because when you just stick with hip hop and like making hip hop, I was into like spoken a lot of weed, like working with like Questlove, but going to all the Philly producers, there's so many producers in Philly at the time.
Like everybody was a hip hop producer.
Like the whole, the whole game was just like a quest for beats.
