Podcast Appearances
The kind of buff dude.
So you can watch somebody else's?
sort of what it's about but i don't like watch them watch them the way i watch porn right see i'm saying so charlamagne signed a deal along with a bunch of other podcasts associated with iheart where they went over to netflix and now they are uh very limited in what they can post to their youtube channel i think the breakfast clip was limited to like five minute clips rory and maul same deal of fat joe and jada their show when you see uh these podcasts
going to Netflix as somebody who's an OG in the space, who probably never thought that we would get to the point of seeing these giant corporations wanting to make money off of podcasts.
When you see that, what do you think?
I know myself personally, as a paying Netflix subscriber, that never have I even thought about doing it.
But that being said...
Breakfast Club, Rory Mall, Fat Joe and Jada, podcasts that I'll watch a clip from, for sure.
I'll watch like a 10-minute clip if I see something that seems notable, but I have never been a consistent viewer of any of these podcasts, and especially Breakfast Club.
It's like they get big guests, so sometimes when I'm doing research prep for an interview or whatever, I have to go watch a Breakfast Club interviewer, but I don't really know anyone who's like a hardcore Breakfast Club viewer.
Now, I bet those people are out there, but...
Oh, you're still working on that?
But that's moving along.
And those analytics might lead them to not being as interested in podcasting at some point.
Because this is not so dissimilar to what Spotify was doing for a while where they said, hey, Joe Budden, Joe Rogan, here's a bunch of money.
Come be exclusive to our platform.
ultimately for various reasons they both decided that they didn't want to be in that deal in the long run but it's kind of like apple music used to do exclusives with artists where for the first couple days you could only listen to it on their platform ultimately
that might've brought a lot of people over to Apple music, but it's not really a, an intelligent longterm business decision when Apple music doesn't really need a exclusive.
They could get all this content the same time as everybody else.
Like the exclusives only matter.
