Good or better than what you were at being open, like having vulnerable discussions and talking so openly and freely about this real crunchy stuff?

I remember the time.

Yeah.

Like, vulnerability is hard.

Like, it feels like you've been standing naked on stage in front of those people.

It's a different way of communication.

It's sort of like what you were saying before when you first got arrested.

The police were there and it wasn't like a confrontation.

It was like, Kia ora, it's the police here.

Yeah, it's a different way of approaching things.

Yeah, how often, if at all, do you think about the victims these days?

You know, the people that were working those jobs when you did the armed robberies?

If any of them were watching this or listening to this, what would you say to them?

Yeah, I mean, I can tell you're ashamed about it because, you know, you're not the same person now as what you were then.

Yeah, you're helping a lot of people fix their lives now, but I reckon we're all permanent works in progress as human beings.

What's one thing that you're still working on fixing in yours?

My connection to Te Ao Māori.

Do you consider yourself a role model?

Yeah.
