It was a mistake, and it really bothers me, and I think it bothers a lot of people in this town.

When the Canucks give up, and not so much early in the draft.

You know, you've got someone who you believe is a star, grab them no matter what.

No matter what, of course, they've made mistakes in that area as well.

But in the later rounds, take the local kid.

Because if he goes on to be somebody like Brendan Gallagher, you're going to look bad for the extent of his career.

And I think that's been the case with Brendan Gallagher.

Maybe you can make amends for that somewhat by grabbing him later in his career.

You know, if you don't think that's a thing, and this is more earlier in the draft, 1980, and God bless his soul, the Montreal Canadiens won

took first overall Doug Wickenheiser instead of the local kid, Danny Savard.

And, you know, eventually they got Savard in the fold on their team.

But he went on to become a real superstar with the Chicago Blackhawks.

And that never seemed right.

I don't know.

I just, I think, to me, if it's a tie, you know, between, you know, all things being equal, if you get a couple of players, you take the local kid.

That wasn't the case, you know, back in 2010 with Brendan Gallagher.

Maybe you can make amends for it somewhat.

I'd love to see it.

I don't know what they do about the number, though, because he wears 11.

He wears 11 with the abs.
