you had to ask if Jimmy Boeheim was not on the bench because they just played it 1,000% of the time.
Now they kind of have it in spurts.
Adrian Autry uses it, but it's not his go-to.
When they do have that zone, though...
Boy, am I glad that Malik Brown is on our team because he lived in that and thrived in that kind of system for two years before he came to Duke.
And one way that you're going to see us do that, and this doesn't lend well to the shot selection, but it does lend itself well to...
Limiting how effective their inside, their rim protection can be.
Ball movement through the zone to find a good shot includes Malik Brown or someone like Adame Sar going to that free throw line.
If one of our guys doesn't attack it on the dribble, go into that free throw line and making the 2-3 patented zone kind of collapse in on around the free throw line.
And then finding a pass where Malik Brown has been great this season and find those backdoor cuts from the top of the key or from the free throw line.
That's where it's going to be a great way to break this zone and to get some good shots.
Whether, again, they're at the rim behind the defense so that they have to foul or they have to just let us walk on by or finding an open guy on the wing for a three-point shot.
And if you're going to have a zone, make them pay for it by hitting those shots.
Make it where they have to abandon the zone because you're hitting your outside shots.
But that's where I see the things to watch.
And if we can โ the times that they do present zone, if we're able to break that pretty easily and get some easy points โ
I don't think they can handle us as well man-to-man throughout the entire game.
And the zone is kind of a way for them to kind of reset that.
And if they can't have that reset, we're going to have the advantage.
Yeah, it's funny, Jason, because I'm not trying to look ahead to next weekend, but next weekend was shaping up to be one of those epic all-time non-conference days.
