It's just gorgeous.
So finally, she sits down with her mum and her mum explains it to her very simply.
And she starts to understand grandma isn't coming back, but she's still a huge part of their lives.
So death is a really tough one, isn't it?
It's not the thing we want to have to sit down and discuss with our children, but it comes to everybody.
And I just think the way this is done is beautiful.
And most importantly, I suppose, when you're having that snuggle and you're reading that book and it's opened the difficult questions, it's leaving spaces open.
between what you read.
It's letting the child ask questions.
It's letting the child identify and just allowing them to sort of get their take on it.
And I thought it was gorgeous.
Absolutely.
This is a huge favourite of mine.
It's beautifully illustrated.
And so what happens is the girl has a worry which appears behind her shoulder.
It's just a little blob.
As the book goes on, the worry gets bigger and bigger.
And then the colour just leeches out of the pages and it turns black and white.
