And he gave that to me.
And I was proud and pleased to put it in the book.
That's Dr. Ken Milne.
Dr. Ken Milne, another friend and colleague who's in the book, refers to the emergency department as the light in the lighthouse that's never supposed to go out, which is a telling metaphor.
He provides emergency services for an organization in Ontario called Health Force Ontario.
And there's no question, and I talk about this in the book,
There are emergency departments in rural and remote parts of the country that are one physician or one nurse away from closing.
If they call in sick or they can't find somebody, they have to close down.
And obviously, that's a tremendous disservice to the community.
Ken reckons that over the last 15 years, he has kept 1,500 emergency departments open for another shift for another day.
uh, by doing what you've said.
And that's the craziest story he's, he's ever told of, of getting a friend to, uh, fly him in his plane and stay overnight.
You know, he didn't just fly home.
He stayed overnight.
The pilot, uh, his, who's also a colleague and anesthesiologist and flew him back, uh, to, uh, to London, Ontario, where, where he lives.
Now I'll tell you another little story.
Ken is, is ingenious, uh,
And during the pandemic, when there were very few commercial flights, Ken commandeered an aircraft to take me and he across the pond from Burlington, Ontario to Buffalo International Airport.
And from there, we rented a car and drove across the state to Ticonderoga in upstate New York.
And there we went to this Star Trek tours.
