It got us claws in early and never left me mentally.
But it took a while before it had me physiologically.
This is the crazy thing, Brendan.
Loads of people think like when I went, when I found recovery and I went back researching, doing research around different areas of life, I went back to my old methadone clinic and the amount of people, which I didn't realise at the time, the amount of people that were working
Like when you have methadone clinics, do you run them in the day for people that don't have jobs?
And then you have an evening clinic for people that do have jobs.
Loads of people are in active addiction with full-time jobs.
Ironically, I was in a graphics industry in the pharmaceutical industry.
I'd be sitting there in the day designing methadone and anti-anxiety medication for Big Pharma, Pfizer, Pinewood Healthcare.
I'd be going into the toilet, doing a few lines of heroin.
I'd have my methadone on a daily use.
And then I'd just take the edge off during work.
And then when I'd finish work, I'd just go into oblivion with every drug I could get.
Do you know?
Yeah, big time.
What was, there's two elements of that, right?
So there was an element of enabling.
I got on great with the gang and work.
Like there was such care and such love there.
They were a brilliant group and I'm still friends with them today.
