These treats are too hard for the animals to chew on.
And the veterinarian goes on to explain that if you're giving your dog a chew toy that is supposed to be hard, that is supposed to last a while...
You got to make sure, one, it's not too hard for their teeth, because apparently 26% of all dogs with cracked, fractured teeth get it from chewing on these types of chew toys.
You should be able to take the toy and scratch it with your thumbnail.
So you're also testing the strength of your thumbnail, but you should be able to leave damage on the toy on this chew thing with your thumbnail.
If you cannot, it's too hard for your dog because it will crack their teeth.
It's a rule of thumb, huh?
A rule of thumb.
Oh, very, very good.
Do you know where rule of thumb came from?
Yeah, okay, we won't talk about that.
But it's meant to be.
I didn't mean it in a violent, yeah.
Now we understand.
Yeah, yeah, I know.
Now we understand.
Stay on topic.
So the other issue, though, is these toys cause obstructions.
So if you're not going to listen to me and your veterinarian and you're still going to give a yak chew or a bully stick, make sure it's not small enough to be swallowed.
When it's, you know, the size of, if you've got a big dog, if it's smaller than your fist, you got to throw it out because they can swallow a pretty big piece.
