I am violating my religious faith in favor of some Eastern woo-woo kind of thing.
You can draw on research such as the following.
Our brain emits energy that is captured in the form of brain waves that you can read on an EEG.
And those brain waves have been categorized into high beta, beta, alpha, delta, gamma, depending on the energy of that output.
If you tell a person, do you know that simply closing your eyes, taking a breath and exhaling shifts your brain from high beta and beta into an alpha state, which is calming?
So we're not even talking about having to adopt some belief system.
We're talking about something as simple as close your eyes, take a breath in, release it slowly.
Now meditation, mindfulness meditation goes well beyond that, but it highlights that we are an embodied creature.
We have physiology or I'm oriented to psychophysiology.
And we absorb what's in our world.
These days, that's not such a healthy thing because there's so much stuff in the world that we're absorbing.
That's very destabilizing and disturbing.
And we also have things going on inside of us.
And we're always reacting to that.
So what is a way to not get swept away or hijacked?
by those negatives and find that we have ready access at our fingertips or at our nostrils or in our mouth or in our eyelids that can put us in a place that helps us feel grounded, reconnected, more resilient, more stable,
And as I said before, less reactive and more responsive.
So I hope, Clarence, that that might be something you can draw on and with the people that you interact with and say, it's as simple as blah, blah, blah.
