And to do that, to provide women with the choice of obstetrician and their choice of times, we need the investment in obstetricians.

But this bit can't get lost.

Very many women do not want consultant-led care.

And for very many women, midwife-led care is the gold standard.

So those programs need to be resourced.

That's what true choice is.

It's not about scaring women.

It's about discussing risk, giving them that information, and then with their care provider, whether that's a midwife or a consultant, public or private,
