But I always try to shift the narrative that it's more about the color of your urine than actually the amount.
It's a good place to start, but it's not the end all be all.
The color of your urine should be a clear, clear yellow where you can kind of see through it if you were holding it in front of it on a glass.
So not only do you need your essential amount of water every single day for your body to function and run, but you also need to be replacing what you're losing.
So whether you're losing it over a one-hour run or whether you're losing it working outside for eight hours, you have to find ways to replace what you're losing to keep yourself in balance.
So the average person thinks Gatorade is water and they drink way too much of it.
And what we don't realize is that these electrolyte replacement drinks have a lot of salts in them.
So if you have high blood pressure or if you already have kidney stones and other things where high salt content is bad for you, you know, the amount of sodium and other things in these drinks may do you harm down the road.
But if you're out in a hot setting, there's nothing wrong with having a Gatorade.
But if that's all you're going to be drinking, I think that's the wrong way to approach it because then you're going to get way too many electrolytes.
You will get the amount of fluid that you need, but then you've kind of put your body off balance.
