So I had a patient once who lost a leg because they were standing on a curb and a car swiveled.
Like, you know, a car just moved one foot.
They were driving at the edge of this one foot, hit this person's leg.
Just standing on a curb.
Everyone does it every day.
Lost a leg.
Gone forever.
Was an athlete, college athlete.
Career, very promising, suddenly gone.
What did they do wrong?
They didn't do anything wrong.
I had another patient.
It's kind of sad.
Was at a party on the third floor balcony, third floor US, so second floor for y'all.
Got drunk, jumped from the balcony to the pool, didn't make it to the pool, hit the ground, paralyzed from the neck down.
Both of these people in college, both athletes, both promising careers.
One of them made a huge mistake.
The other one did not.
