So as human beings, this is the first time on earth in our history that we have ever experienced giving out information to something that feels sympathetic and empathetic back that wasn't a human.
We've done it with pets a tiny bit, but not in a way where they respond back to us in the way that we wanted.
So we're literally psychologically wired to connect to that experience.
And that's what the tech companies have done so well.
And so we're in what's called a parasocial relationship, which means that in work we're going, oh, it's about processes and outcomes and emails and streamlining and profit margins.
At home, it's a whole different story.
It's like, do my friends like me?
Is my boyfriend toxic, et cetera, et cetera.
Now, that's the bit as an anthropologist that fascinates me, that we are now in a personal relationship, many of us with it.
And, of course, I famously outed myself on the Tommy Tiernan show or something.
Well, at the moment, we're okay with some, with ChatGPT, we're okay with that at the moment.
However, if they decide to actually start to market that data, there's very little we can do about that.
That's exactly right.
So you have more privacy with a paid one.
But also it depends if you have your memory switched on on your AI platform that you're using.
So then it will learn and aggregate you and feed you back to you more accurately.
But there's two big ones in the world, Replica and Character AI.
