And so these are the things I think about when I'm like, okay, why am I telling a patient that she could benefit from altering her diet or trying to exercise, especially weight-bearing exercise?
Because when you build muscle, it actually sensitizes your body to insulin.
When you have more fat, especially in the central area,
that makes you more insulin resistant.
So it's all related.
And we are seeing more and more obesity.
And it's just the difference in how we eat nowadays and the types of foods that are available.
And there's socioeconomic factors, like the crappier foods that cause more insulin resistance,
tend to be cheaper and more readily available.
And all of that in combination with us having kids at an older age, not to mention the things we put on our body and the things in our environment, everyone's talking about microplastics, we didn't have an awareness.
And now we're in this time frame, we're in this generation where we're like, oh, we all have microplastics in our body, right?
Right.
That's changed over time.
But there's a lot of good things that have happened.
I don't want to be all doom and gloom.
Now we have vaccines.
Women aren't having 10 kids and only expecting half of them to live.
So there's a lot of improvements.
And we are also seeing massive improvements in the past two, three decades in the success of fertility treatments like IVF.
So we're able to push the limits of our biological clock a little further.
