I'm in a relationship.
I want to start tracking my cycles.
I'm thinking about trying to get pregnant.
Cycle doesn't come.
They come to me at the three to six month mark.
And I do a scan and I recognize, hey, it looks like you have PCOS, polycystic ovary syndrome, based on how your ovaries look and your hormone profile.
and they feel really betrayed by the birth control pill.
They're like, oh my God, this whole time I had this thing and I can't believe I didn't know about it.
I feel so blindsided.
They're just not mentally prepared.
Right.
And what I explained to them is, yeah, it's not great to not know what's going on with your body.
A lot of times they're like, I don't even remember the conversation clearly, but now I'm remembering my periods were kind of irregular and all over the place.
And I was trying to, you know, I was, it was interfering with school and stuff.
So the doctor put me on the pill.
So I'm kind of like that was an early clue.
Or sometimes it's something that emerges in our bodies.
It increases with insulin resistance.
So there's environmental and genetic factors.
But it was masking it because when you're on the pill, you're not actually seeing what your ovulation can do.
