So here's what everybody should do.
Take your hands and make two light fists and put them down by your side.
And when you do one full four, seven, eight, stick out a finger.
Then another full four, seven, eight, stick out a finger.
Before you know it, you're going to get to 10 and then wrap it back and boom, you're at 20.
Here's the good news.
Most people never make it to 20.
Most people, they're concentrating on the breathing, right?
And they're using their fingers to tell them where they are.
Here's the other important, important thing.
picture the number in your mind's eye.
So when your eyes close, picture the number four, then the number three, then the number two, then the number one.
Then you picture a seven going down.
Then you picture an eight coming back.
But if you see the number, you cannot count and worry at the same time.
It's actually physiologically impossible to do.
So we're distracting the brain by doing the counting, the thing with our fingers,
And we're lowering our heart rate because this breathing technique is designed specifically to lower heart rate.
Now, one last thing, Dwayne, that I have to be careful about is when I first tried this, I'm just going to be honest with you.
It was kind of hard for me to hold my breath for seven and push for eight.
