And indeed, many of the companies that contribute enormous corporate tax revenues in Ireland deciding to move elsewhere where they would facilitate the data centres.
How do you mean an overinvestment in tech?
Yeah, but Paul Dean, we have added a lot of solar and we've added onshore wind energy, but we have failed dramatically in relation to onshore wind energy.
How confident can we be that we're going to get any additional new offshore wind energy, which we actually need, that we get the actual windmills in the sea rather than just talk about them?
I'm sorry, whose fault is that?
What do you think of the data centres?
Should we be stopping the data centres because we can't afford to give them the new energy that's been produced?
Or would that be counterproductive to the economy because we might lose the corporation tax revenues that come from the companies that use the data centres?
And do we also talk too much about electricity, given that an awful lot of our use of fossil fuels is non-electricity related?
Well then, what about, there's been again in the last week or so, the belief that Larry Goodman, who has taken control of Barry Rowe, wants to get another licence to go and explore.
There's potentially 300 million barrels of oil there and possibly gas reserves.
But it makes some sense that even if we're against the idea of adding to our carbon fuel emissions, that rather than importing oil and gas from overseas, when there is a doubt over the security of supply, that we might as well exploit what we have here in the next couple of decades rather than just leaving it redundant under the sea.
What do you mean by that, in front of refineries?
It is, David.
Look, David, there's a horrible cruelty, I suppose, attached to this energy affordability element, you know, and
And the irony is, I suppose, that if you want to save money on your energy bills and your heating bill and your transport bill or your electricity bill, you have to invest money.
And look, there's a coalition of people out there who are incredibly willing, but just financially not able.
Now, look, David, I will give credit to the government and SEAI out there at the moment.
If you're able to engage with them,
there's a very generous grants out there.
