You can test vitamin B6 and magnesium, which are cofactors that are responsible for the conversion of glutamate to GABA. But in essence, it's a clinical diagnosis that not many practitioners are thinking about. They're thinking about neurotransmitters like dopamine and norepinephrine and serotonin. So those drugs could be helpful, especially SSRIs in some people, but that's not really the reason why somebody's depressed is because they're low serotonin, right? But they can be depressed because they have low GABA, actually. And so... In my clinical practice, obviously I've done a lot of work in this world.

Like yoga, mindfulness, even exercise can help if it's done in short bursts because exercise helps increase something called BDNF, which increases the amount of GABA as well. But there's also other drugs and supplements that can help support the GABA system too. There's lots of things like things like ashwagandha and even progesterone can help as well.

So there's lots of things here, but the key is to have it on your radar as a clinical practitioner. And also, if you're just somebody that has a hard time sleeping or anxious or depressed, think about the GABA system and think about using some supplementation that may support that to see if it works for you. And then you have a good sense that, yeah, this is what's going on.

Yeah. I mean, you can, you can do your own diagnostic testing on some level. If you take GABA supplements and they work, that could just mean that, you know, you've got something going on there now, and then you should go see a practitioner to check if you have a leaky gut.

But you also can try something like Trocom or, Trozee and say, hey, do these things help with my anxiety or with my stress or with my sleep? Then, okay, well, then there's something potentially going on with my GABA system here. So how can I not only just take these supplements when I need them, but how can I support the system holistically so I don't need these things all the time?

And that would be fine for me. I'd rather people be able to do this without supplementation, quote unquote, naturally with behavior, with lifestyle, with diet. That's ideal.
