Triangle is quite extensive. It goes from Bermuda in the north down to Florida, back out to Puerto Rico. It takes in a huge area and also includes the Bahamas. So it is an enormous region of the North Atlantic.

Another reason is that the area is also renowned for what we call methane deposits. And these methane deposits are released, create bubbles in the water which come to the surface. And one theory says that when these are released, then the ships are no longer supported because the density of the gas, the air, is much lower than water, and so the ships just sink. Now there's been various experiments on this and calculations on this, and although it sounds like a lovely idea, it doesn't work.
